HERO Book One is (almost) DONE!

Well, HERO Book One is almost wrapped and work on Book Two has begun (actually 21 pages of Book Two are done).  We will be passing the cover over to a colorist and begin working on a color version of HERO... More to come.

HERO Update April 2016

Wow... We are almost there.  The Main 150 page story is DONE.  Penciled, Inked, Gray Wash, Digital Gray Tones and Lettering... Done.  The last 25 pages has been sent to my Editor and when he gets back to me and I make any and all adjustments... I'll be ordering a few proof copies for further review.  Whoo hoo.

I am also working on a 4 page Epilogue and an addition story at the end of the book... Both are coming along just fine. Here's a preview of one of the additional pages... More coming soon.

Update... Chapter 5

Just a quick update... As of today, Feb 28th I have completed the first 9 pages of the last Chapter, Chapter 6.

This is a pic of the first 5 Chapters (minus the additional 14 pages added through out the story... which I will add later).

Looking forward to wrapping up Chapter 6 and creating some proof copies to share with family, friends and artist friends.  Much more coming soon...

Busy, Busy, Busy

So just an update on HERO...

Chapter 5 is complete and we have started on the final Chapter of book One, Chapter 6.

We also went back and added 14 additional story pages (3 in Chapter One, 3 in Chapter Two, 4 in Chapter Three and 4 in Chapter Four) to make the count for Chapters 1-5 a total of 125 pages.

This is the idea for the back cover and the pin up for Chapter 6.

HERO Update

Just a quick update on HERO.

These are the covers sketches for the first five mini comic previews.

We have finished Chapter 4 and have completed 90 pages... Penciled, Inked, Gray Toned, Lettered AND Edited.

Chapter 1: Our Hero gets a name
Chapter 2: HERO prepares to leave on his Adventure
Chapter 3: HERO starts his Adventure
Chapter 4: The 'Story Within a Story'
We have started working on Chapter 5: Where everything goes wrong!

Just a quick update on HERO.  I have finished all the art for Chapter 3 and have started on the lettering. I hope to have it all done and off to my editor by next weekend... And then on to Chapter 4. 65 pages in... still going...

HERO is coming the NEW YORK SPECIAL EDITION 2015

Ayla and I will be in NEW YORK on June 6th and 7th for the NEW YORK SPECIAL EDITION show. As soon as I have a table number I will pass that on but if you are in the area, come by and check out the preview copies of the first two chapters (plus a bunch more) of our new kid-friendly graphic novel HERO coming out the end of 2015 (Hopefully in time for the NEW YORK COMIC CON in October... but we will see)/

Finished Hawkeye

This is the finished pin up of Hawkeye in action... It will actually be a story page in the third chapter of HERO and there is a reason it is mostly black and white (with only a little gray tones...)

Hawkeye in ACTION!

In the third chapter of HERO, Hero and Pudge meet a Ferritine Archer by the name of Hawkeye.  He's a rather charming character who has a knack for Tall Tales... including the one this image will show...

Hulk

I kind of made a deal with myself... If I did any non-HERO related art... I then had to do a HERO-related version.  I recently did a Hawkeye sketch but before did a HERO version of Hawkeye... who will actually make an appearance in the Third Chapter.  I also did a Hulk sketch so I did a HERO version of the Hulk.

First, I asked... what kind of animal could be a huge hulking creature... who is also Green?  Easy... A turtle.  Works out good cause there is a Turtle character in the 2nd book.  So here he is (at least a 'younger' version of the character...)

Just a few quick sketches...

 I was asked sometime last year about doing two sketch requests.  One for the Hulk and one for a Baby Hulk.  I told the requester that I was knee deep in a project but that if I had sometime to step away, I would give it a shot.

I recently wrapped up chapter 2 of HERO and forward it and the completely re-done chapter 1 to my editor and while I waited for him to go over it with a fine tooth comb... I had a little time.

So far I have done three sketches (the third I can't show it till the person gets them in the mail) but figured it was OK to post some here.

I have a small list of other stuff I need to work on so I might take this small break to whip out a few more sketches.... more to come.

Sorry for the delay...

Wow, this has been a busy year.  I just wrapped up work on Chapter 2 of HERO (44 pages done) and I'm getting ready to tackle Chapter 3.  Chapter 2 took longer than I expected simply because I also went back and re-did all 25 pages of Chapter 1 (adding gray tones and fixing 'little' issues I had with the first 25 pages).

I'm excited about Chapter 3 because Hero and Pudge have begun their journey and there is a LOT of stuff I want to share about our little world.  Chapter 4 is also something kind of special.  Mike and I call it the 'story within a story' and I look forward to working on that chapter as well.  For now, just a peak at the last page of Chapter 2...

Not sure why but I just like the way this one came out.  This is one of two pages I really liked how they came out and I'm pretty happy with the progress on the book so far.  I hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I have... when its finally DONE.

Been gone awhile... but still working.

So after the New York Special Edition show in June, I have not posted too much here and I'm sorry for that.  The Show was fun, but a rather disappointment, and since I got back home I have been busy working on projects.

I'm heading off the the New York Comic Con in October but I will not have a table this year, i'm going as a fan and looking forward to hanging out, getting some original art work and seeing a bunch of old friends.  Next year I hope to secure a table, as well as have a new book to show off, so I will keep everyone posted.

As of right now, I am focusing on one project at a time withe the goal of actually FINISHING one of them by early next year.  My current project is HERO, the first chapter in an original graphic novel series created by me and my kids with illustrations by me and Ayla (if she ever has time!) and written by me and Michael. The first part of the story that introduces the main character is 14 pages and I am working on pages 11 and 12 now.  As soon as the art is done I will begin lettering the story.  I made a promise to my friend Todd in NY that I would have the first 14 pages COMPLETE by the time I saw him in NY, so that's the current goal.
