Sorry...

Bad thing about working on "secret" projects is... no new post on my Blog. Got two or three of those going on right now and until the persons who requested the projects say "OK"... no posting.

Weddings, ninjas and people riding in jeeps with dogs... I know, weird, huh?

But I do have a few commission requests working there way up the list so it should not be too long before SOMEthing makes it on to my blog...

Stay Tuned.

Jack of Hearts take 2

Went back and added some "old-school" splatter with a little white acrylic paint.

"old-school" as in High School.

We did this kind of stuff on almost everything back in the day...

what a dork.

Taking requests for Pittsburgh Comic Con 2009

I've been invited by some friends, Shawn Prior of PKD Media and Rich Bernatovich and Jamie Fay of Drumfish Productions, to attend the Pittsburgh Comic Con 2009 and I am seriously considering it. I had a great time last year and if I can make it this year, I will.

I've posted on the Geeks forum a sketch reqeust list and if I get enough reqeusts, then I will definitly go... if not, I will still do the sketches and simply mail them out. So, if your interested... check out the post on the forum here.

Thanks,
-Drew

I've got a desire... to write.

I'm not really sure what came over me this morning but while I was running around, doing my normal Weekend morning routine (stopping at Hardee's, picking up Krispy Kreme for the family, etc) I was over come with an urge, a desire... to write. So much so that I was hurrying home just to sit down at the computer...

Of course, that did not happen just like that... I first had to get a few "weekend" choirs out of the way and headed straight for the backyard and powerd up the lawn mower. Now that is all done and both the front and backyards are mowed (edging tomorrow)... here I am.

Does anyone actually keep New Years Resolutions? I don't. I hate making them because I know I can't keep them. But this year I did. I made a Resolution to write EveryDay. Guess how long THAT lasted?

1/2.

Yup, two days and then Nothing since then. I can blame writers block but I won't. I can't say I got burned out (come on, it was only 2 Days!!) but I won't. I know exactly what it was...

The first day, I wrote chapter one of a story that had been in my head for a very, very long time. I shared it with my family and they all enjoyed it (or faked it really well). The next day, I began to write chapter two... and it sucked.

I had lost the desire to continue. It took me almost three weeks to realise that was the problem and only after re-reading chapters one and chapters two. I put away the story and have only fleeting thoughts of it.

But... It never left me and today I will re-read chapter one and start fresh with chapter two. I have a plan. I have a story. I have a begining. I have a middle and I have and end. And NOW is the time to write.

Wish me luck.

PS I also wanted to draw everyday too but that never happens either... but I'm working on that too.

new sketchbook cover ideas... part 2

Ok, here's my next attempt at my sketchbook cover... still got a few more steps to finish but not tonight... maybe tomorrow...

I hope to have my 2009 sketchbook done by the end of August. More info coming soon.

new sketchbook cover ideas...

I had an idea for a "Little Red Riding Hood" image for the cover to my new sketchbook.

This did not hit the mark I was shooting for.

I may give it another shot at another time.

My last sketchbook had my version of Tinker Bell on the cover and I wanted to continue the "fairy tale" type theme.

Re-Imaging part 2

OK, I will be the first to admit that I rely on solid black way too often. The more I got to look at the drawing I did last night, the more I wanted to re-do it.

So I did.

I fixed a few problems (Andi's left arm was waaaay shorter than her right one) and I removed a lot of the "non-essential" solid black so that if I did color it... there would be more to color...

Trust me, it makes sense in my head.

original vs re-imagined

Re-Imaginging the cover

I had this urge to Re-Imagine the cover to my first trade... and here it is.

I may take the time to color it later but I really just wanted to re-draw it.

Thor

Once again, catching up on a few commissions.

and playing the part of the red-head trouble maker is...

...my nephew Mark.

Who is not a red-head, by the way, but what story would not be complete without a red-head punk kid with freckles?

That's what I say.

something a little new...

OK, this is a little something new I am working on with my daughter.

I can't say the name of the project right now because that would ruin the surprise but anyone who knows my son, knows that this is based off of him.

More coming soon, just trying something new...
