and one final distraction...

Did a few drawings today and this is the last of the "Maid of Metal" character designs I came up with. If for some reason, nothing becomes of these ideas, I already have figured away to put these characters into the Cornerstone universe. Either way is fine with me. More soon -drew

Just a little distracted....

All right, I admit it... I have a tendency to loose track of what I am working on and go off on... tangents. Well, it's happened again. In the middle of working on THREE other projects (Tales volume three, Ninja Babes and The END) I've been thinking of nothing other than French Maids.

OK, a little explanation... I was working on my M.I.M.E.S. drawing for Harold and I sent him an email joking that after he's done working on French Mimes and wants to work on French Maids, let me know because I'd love to draw them. Ha, ha, ha. He thought it was funny too, and so did Wayne Cordova, Harold's writer on M.I.M.E.S.. A few emails later and I've got these images stuck in my head that need to be put on paper. I still have two other ideas and will draw them out and save them soon or than later. Here's what I worked on today... Enjoy.

M.I.M.E.S.

Harold Jennett, one of the fine artists I've meet through the comic geek speak forums, is currently working on a book he and Wayne Cordova will be premiering at the CGS Super Show called M.I.M.E.S.. Harold and I did a sketch swap last year at the Comic Geek Speak 300th Episode and we've decided to make it an annual thing. This year, we're each doing a pin up of each others female leads. This is the drawing I did for him of the character Mimi.
and here's the "cleaned up" version I did for him to print in his book (if they so choose). Check out more of Harold's stuff at his sketchblog.

A page for refference

This was one of three prints I did for Heroes Con last year in which each one featured one of my three main characters prominently with the other two behind them. This one is Venus. The other two, of course, was Ricky 17 and Cortez. I'm posting this here as a "reference" for some one doing a commission for me (you know who you are) so let me know if you need anything else. -Drew

I got a good reason why there is no new art....

And it's a good excuse...

Well, to make a long story short (too late) my daughter and I are switching rooms. She is taking over my small little office/art room and I'm getting her bed room and turn it into a office/art room. Right now, all my art supplies, including my drawing table, is currently in pieces and sitting in the family room while I patch all the holes in the walls and prepare to re-paint her bedroom. I'm moving my office into a space almost double what I currently have but I want to do it right and it's taking a little time... Tonight, I spent the last hour trying to clear a clog in my paint gun only to jam a metal rod into my thumb (my left hand, thank you) only to determine that this was the "old" paint gun that's been broken for a while and now I either have to find the new one or buy a new one. Then my wife calls me from work... she smashed her finger in a mixing bowl and might have to go get x-rays taken and I'm sitting here waiting for her to call me back. Joy, joy. Well, as soon as I get the room back in shape (and my drawing table back in one piece) I will be starting on new art then. Volume three or bust. Hang on.

N3RD CAST

I met Kwip of the N3Rd Cast podcasters while in Pittsburgh. We got to talking about podcast, the Geeks mainly and he asked me if I had a business card. Of course, I forgot all of them in FL so instead I handed him a copy of Tales From The Cornerstone Volume One. About a half an hour later, he came back, handed me $20.00 and said he wanted to not only pay for the first volume but that he wanted to buy the second. He loved it and he mentioned me on their NY and Pittsburgh wrap up show on their site www.neenerneerner.net. You can hear the whole podcast here, listen in around 2 hours and 15 minutes into it. Thanks guys, it was a blast. -Drew

Too Old to Grow Up podcast

CGS forum guy Logan MacLeod did and interview with me from the New York Comic Con and the episode is posted on their site. Hear the episode here. I had the pleasure of starting his first Star Wars themed jam piece with a little know character named Darth Maul. I also did a Hal Jordan Green Lantern and at last years CGS 300 did an Invisible Woman for his daughter and a Highlander sketch for him. I enjoyed the show and love the fact that their are other geeky dads out there, just like me.

I am soooo tired....

I've been helping my sister in law move today and yesterday and today we moved her bed, a couch and a piano. And I'm finding it hard to type. Anyway, I wanted to talk about NY and Pittsburgh some more but I'm sooo tired. I will post more tomorrow as well as some sketches of things I am working on. Later -Drew
